Electronic Resources for Chinese Studies

Most of the electronic resources listed below are subscribed web-based commercial databases. Also included are several online resources, such as Ling Long 玲瓏 Women's Magazine and Chinese Paper Gods 中國紙馬, results of digitization projects of Columbia and the library, and a number of databses installed on the stand-alone Chinese computer by the elevator in the main Reading Room.

In general, the minimum system requirements for using e-resources are Microsoft Windows 2000 or more advanced operating system and a recent version of Internet Explorer. Most e-resources may require the use of a computer in the Columbia University IP range, or a proxy connection. One may wish to consult the E-Resources FAQ or attend a library workshop to learn essentials applicable to using most e-resources and detailed guides for some leading English-langugae databases. But for Chinese-language e-resources, please feel free to ask Chinese Studies Librarian and attend the workshops organized at Starr East Asian Library.

Please contact the Chinese Studies librarian if you have any comments or questions.  We welcome your ideas and suggestions for improving the Chinese Studies collection at Columbia.
