JC mostly works on twentieth-century literature, with an interest in popular forms such as film and comic books. Although he focuses on American texts, his research is transnational, involving Canadian and European authors. He also works as a translator, with recently published translations of pieces by Jean-Luc Nancy and Bernard Baas. He has presented papers on topics such as James Joyce, Ralph Ellison, Jack Kerouac, Star Wars, implantable prosthetic devices, Batman, old cowboys, and the history of comics. JC received a B.A. from Concordia University in Montreal, an M.A. from S.U.N.Y. Buffalo, and an M.A. from Columbia.
