Interlibrary Loan
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) provides access to materials that are currently unavailable through Columbia University Libraries for eligible Columbia University affiliates. In addition to borrowing materials, ILL lends materials to patrons of other libraries through Institutional Borrowing and reciprocal lending arrangements, which expand the collections of the institutions and enhance the library experience of their patrons.

NOTICE: WARNING CONCERNING COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted material.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specific conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research." If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use," that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
Eligibility for ILL services
If you are a student, faculty, or staff member affiliated with the Morningside or Barnard campuses and you have a valid UNI and e-mail account, you are eligible to use ILL services provided by Butler Library. Only Provost-appointed visiting scholars with borrowing privileges are eligible for ILL service.
Alumni, seminar associates, or individuals who have purchased library reading or borrowing privileges from the Library Information Office are not eligible.
There are several ILL offices within the Columbia library system, and each provides services for affiliated patrons. The form above will direct you to the appropriate ILL office.
