The Libraries seek to support research in all aspects of Korean studies, including history, politics and government, economy, literature, social affairs, arts, etc. It supports the needs of undergraduate, graduate, Ph.D. students, the teaching faculty, post-docs, and research staff members.

During the first half of the 1990’s, there has been a drastic increase in the number of undergraduate users of our collection.

New courses recently introduced include Social Science.

Overall, the Libraries’ existing collection and current acquisitions commitment, based upon available resources, for Korean are at the study and teaching level. Its collecting goal, however, is at the research level.

1. Formats collected: We collect reference tools extensively, annuals, audio-visual materials, dissertations, maps, monographs, newspapers, periodicals and scholarly series selectively while CD-Roms, other electronic tools and textbooks are excluded.
2. Imprint Dates Collected: We collect materials from all periods selectively.
3. Chronological Focus: All topics are collected selectively.
4. Languages Collected: We collect Korean language materials extensively.
5. Place of Publication: We collect all South Korean publications extensively and North Korean and Chinese publications selectively.
