Films

Reserves units will include full length films at the request of faculty for their course reserves.

Film requests should include: film title, director, and release date.  Also include distributor, if known.

Streaming Video for Feature Films

When specified and available, access to an online video will be provided through a link on your course reserves list.  Currently, streaming films are available through Digital Campus by Swank Motion Pictures and in our collection.  Titles can be searched by film title or director.  Expect access to these films within two weeks of request.

Films not in our collection or from Swank may be available for licensed streaming but will require more lead time, as much as two months.  Please indicate, in the additional information box on the reserve form, if you require streaming for your course.

The Libraries process materials in the order they are received.  Please submit film requests as early as possible.  Films owned by the Libraries or available for licensed streaming through Swank may take 10 days.  Purchase of a film in VHS or DVD format may take 4-6 weeks to become available.

Streaming video will appear as a link in your course reserves list.

Using Film Clips

Short film portions can be made available in your courses. The Columbia Center for Teaching and Learning can provide access to these clips in online course environments such as Courseworks and Mediathread.
