What kinds of materials may I borrow through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Question:

What kinds of materials may I borrow through Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Answer:

ILL provides access to most published materials available in paper or microform, including books, newspapers, dissertations, and theses. You can also request copies (up to 50 pages) of articles from journals and chapters from books through ILL. Most copies are delivered electronically to your ILL account.

Libraries typically do not lend entire volumes of bound serials, or items that are rare or fragile, non-circulating, or on reserve. Likewise, materials that are available at Columbia, including non-circulating materials, offsite materials, reserves, e-journals, and e-books, will not be provided through ILL.

You can also request DVDs, video, and audio items, but note that many libraries do not let these items circulate via ILL.
