I am a student at a university in the New York City area. May I use Columbia's libraries?

Question:

I am a student at a university in the New York City area. May I use Columbia's libraries?

Answer:

Columbia and New York University (NYU) Libraries have a Cooperative Agreement to share library resources through reciprocal on-site access.

If you are a resident of the New York metropolitan area, but not affiliated with NYU, you can use materials in Columbia's libraries if they are not available elsewhere in the city.

You must have a METRO Courtesy Card referral from your local institution or public library (including the New York Public Library). Present your METRO Courtesy Card at the Library Information Office inside the entrance to Butler Library.

Please note that access will not be granted during the final examination period.

Alternatively, you may purchase reading and borrowing privileges to use Columbia's libraries.
