I am a visiting scholar. How do I obtain library privileges?

Question:

I am a visiting scholar. How do I obtain library privileges?

Answer:

Scholars who are not affiliated with Columbia University should go to the Library Information Office, 201 Butler Library, where the level of access to which they are entitled will be determined.

Visiting Scholar is a category of appointment to the University at the recommendation of a dean, director, or chairperson of a department and with the approval of the Provost.  Visiting Scholars may pick up their Columbia ID card at the ID Center in Kent Hall. They may purchase borrowing privileges in the Library Information Office in Butler Llibrary. The fee for Borrowing Privileges is $30 per month payable with a Visa, MasterCard, or personal check.

For complete use and access information, see the Visiting Readers page or contact the Library Information Office by e-mail (lio@columbia.edu) or phone (212-854-7309).
