I am a visiting scholar. How do I obtain library privileges?
Scholars who are not affiliated with Columbia University should go to the Library Information Office, 201 Butler Library, where the level of access to which they are entitled will be determined.
Visiting Scholar is a category of appointment to the University at the recommendation of a dean, director, or chairperson of a department and with the approval of the Provost. Visiting Scholars may pick up their Columbia ID card at the ID Center in Kent Hall. They may request borrowing privileges in the Library Information Office in Butler Library. Visiting scholars no longer have to pay for borrowing privileges.
