All current Columbia University students with a valid UNI are eligible for lockers except students who have a study carrel space in Butler Library.
Lockers are assigned at the beginning of the academic year. To get a locker, you must enter the locker lottery. Details about the locker lottery may be found here.
Only one locker may be assigned to a person.
All occupants must use a lock supplied by the Library. Since the Fall 2007 semester, locks have been placed on lockers by the Library Information Office. These locks are the property of the CU Libraries and may not be removed. Students will be charged for loss, theft or damage to these locks. The replacement cost for each lock is $5.00.
Library staff will check lockers periodically to make sure that there are no library books stored in your locker which have not been checked out. If books are found in your locker that have not been checked out, the books will be returned to the stacks. In addition, you will forfeit your locker: it will be re-assigned to another student.
Locks may be cut at any time after the expiration of your registration. Any library property left in a locker will be returned to the library. Abandoned personal items will be brought to the lost and found area at the Butler Circulation Desk. Abandoned personal items may be reclaimed from the Butler Circulation Desk for 30 days from the date the lock was cut.
Locker users who do not clear their lockers before the end of the locker clearance deadline date will lose their locker privileges for a one-year period.
Lockers may not be altered permanently.
Columbia University Libraries is not liable for the loss, theft, or damage of material stored in lockers.
