Education

Overview

The Center is dedicated to building the field of oral history, and making our archives and expertise of use to the public. We do this through the Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA) program, our Summer Institute, as well as through public events, specialized services, and other services and referrals.

Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA) Program

The Oral History Master of Arts (OHMA) degree program at Columbia University is the only program of its kind in the nation. It was created by a partnership of CCOH and the Institute for the Study of Economic Research and Policy at Columbia University.

Visit the OHMA website.

Summer Institute

The Annual Summer Institute, launched in 1994, which brings together a diverse group of fellows from around the world for advanced training in oral history.

See the Summer Institute page to learn more.

Events

We sponsor events throughout the year. These include a workshop series during the academic year, as well as regular conferences, lectures, and other public events on oral history theory and practice.

Visit our Events page.

Services

We offer consultation and training sessions with educators, community organizations, human rights activists, and others.
