Columbia receives National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) data on CD-ROM from two sources: the NCHS Data Dissemination Program and the U.S. Government's Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP).
All the titles are listed in CU Numeric Data Catalog with both CD and online access options.
For products received through the FDLP, data is formatted for use with the NCHS data extraction software called SETS (Statistical Export and Tabulation System). SETS allows you to:
- select variables and subset cases
- write out a codebook detailing only the variables selected
- output the data with SAS or SPSS programs.
The SETS software accompanies the data on each disc and is installed on a workstation in EDS. For more information about SETS, refer to the NCHS SETS website.
