THL Tibetan Literary Encyclopedia

For modern Tibetan literature, a useful overview with in-depth studies on certain topics can be found in Modern Tibetan Literature and Social Change, ed. by Lauran Hartley and Patricia Schiaffini-Vedani (Duke University Press, 2008). The appendices of this volume include a list of modern Tibetan literary works that have been published in western languages. An E-Book version is available to Columbia UNI-holders in CLIO.

Another excellent overview, which also covers classical, religious and folk genres is Tibetan literature: studies in genre, ed. by José Ignacio Cabezón and Roger R. Jackson. This too is available in CLIO.
