The Journalism Library is pleased to offer video chat reference on Wednesdays and during evenings by appointment (please send email to: journalism@libraries.cul.columbia.edu to schedule appointment). You may use the workstation in the Journalism Library to connect, or you may connect from any device through the following:
Skype
(if you already have a Skype account and application, proceed to step 3):
- Create a Skype account
- Download Skype to your computer
- Sign into your Skype account
- Add journalismlib to your list of Skype contacts
- Click on the Video Call button affiliated with this contact or send a message, IM or SMS, to initiate a video conference call
Google+ Hangouts
(if you already have a Google account and Google+ Hangouts browser plugin, proceed to step 3):
- Create a Google account
- Download/install the Google+ Hangouts browser plugin
- Sign into your Google account
- Add cristina.ergunay@gmail.com to your Google+ circle
- Start a hangout
- Select from your circle or type "Cristina Ergunay" and click the blue "Hang out" button
Working with a partner on your research? No problem! Both technologies allow for multiple users - Google+ allows up to 10 users to connect via video conference; more than 2 on Skype will change the video conference to audio only, unless Skype Premium is installed. Please email journalism@libraries.cul.columbia.edu for assistance in getting started.
