Library Services for Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory Users
Library services supporting LDEO students, faculty and researchers continue from the Morningside campus with a courier service delivering library materials to a pickup shelf located in room 106 Geoscience (DEES Office) on the Lamont campus. The courier service will deliver on Tuesdays and Fridays. Library materials may also be returned via a drop-off box in the same location.

Delivery Service to Lamont Campus:
Place requests for PDFs of articles and book chapters not available from Columbia Libraries and check status of ILL requests. When creating a new ILL account for pickup at Lamont choose LDEO as your location.
Items requested via Borrow Direct should be available at Lamont in about 6 business days.
Items requested from offsite will be available for pickup at Lamont in 2-4 business days. Electronically delivered items will be available in 1-2 business days.
Items from Morningside Libraries
To request items from the Geology Library and other Morningside libraries email: firstname.lastname@example.org. Items will be available for pickup in 2-3 business days.
Place requests for scans of articles and book chapters from Columbia Library’s print books and journals.
To access electronic materials from off-campus, make sure to use the resolver link found throughout the library’s web pages. It will look similar to this:
Look for the Columbia in databases. The Columbia provides direct links from a database citation to the full text of the article online.
LibX is a browser add-on which provides direct access to Columbia Library catalogs, electronic books, journals and databases.
If you often do your research from off-campus, we recommend you install the proxy bookmarklet on your browser's bookmarks toolbar. The bookmarklet lets you log into the proxy without having to browse from the Columbia University Libraries website.
The library provides access to over 2 million eBooks. If you are off campus, limit your CLIO searches to eBooks to find materials you can access immediately.
You can update your settings in Google Scholar to search Columbia’s catalog, which adds the Columbia to your browser window whenever a resource is available at Columbia.
Google Scholar > Settings > Library links
> Search for ‘Columbia University’
Course Reserves items can be accessed through the Course Reserves search on CLIO, or through CourseWorks.
If you have identified a book or other resource that is not currently in the collections, please recommend it for purchase.

Lamont-Doherty Open Access Resolution
As of March 1, 2011, the Lamont-Doherty open access resolution requires all Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory researchers to deposit their scholarly publications into an open access repository. Any article submitted after that date that is subsequently published must be deposited in either the final version or the final post-review version.
