Citation Guides and Resources
Ethical research requires citing your sources properly to avoid plagiarism.
To determine which citation style is appropriate for your subject, see:
- The Bedford Handbook, 7th Edition: Research and Documentation Online
An excellent resource for MLA, APA, and Chicago style information.
- The Columbia Guide to Online Style
Includes guidelines for online citations and for formatting your documents.
- Citing Government Documents
Includes citation formats for specific government documents.
Columbia Libraries offers several free citation managment software programs.
They vary in ease of use.
We recommend Zotero for undergraduates, but you are welcome to compare each software's features. The Libraries offers free workshops on using these software programs.
If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact Anice Mills, Undergraduate Services Librarian.
