Panel Discussion: Go, Little Book, But Not Yet: The Future of Reading

NEW YORK, October 4, 2010 –

With the success of the Kindle and iPad, comes a very interesting question for consumers and publishers: What is the future of the reading? The Friends of the Columbia Libraries are pleased to co-sponsor a panel discussion, "Go, Little Book, But Not Yet: The Future of Reading." The event will take place on Thursday, October 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Grolier Club, 47 East 60th Street, New York City (between Park and Madison Avenues), and is free and open to the public.


The panel will be moderated by author and publisher James Atlas. Four experts on publishing and the literary object will join him in the discussion, Nicholson Baker, author of The Mezzanine and Vox, and winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award for his nonfiction book Double Fold: Libraries and the Assault on Paper; Jonathan Galassi, president and publisher at Farrar, Straus, and Giroux; Virginia Heffernan, journalist at The New York Times; and Lorin Stein, editor of The Paris Review, a pre-eminent American literary magazine.
