Robert K. Merton at 100: Reflections and Recollections

NEW YORK, November 10, 2010 –

The Friends of the Columbia Libraries are pleased to sponsor a panel discussion, “Robert K. Merton at 100: Reflections & Recollections,” on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the Kellogg Center, 1501 International Affairs Building (SIPA, 420 West 118th Street). The event is free and open to the public.

A distinguished group of panelists reflect on the many varieties of Robert Merton: Bernard Bailyn, Harvard University; Jonathan Cole, Columbia University; Richard Sennett, New York University; Stephen Stigler, University of Chicago; and Harriet Zuckerman, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and Columbia University.

Reception to follow at the Rare Book & Manuscript Library (Butler Library, 6th Floor, East). Manuscripts, photographs and other materials of interest from the Robert Merton Collection will be on display in the Octagon.
