Kennison’s presentation, Much Ado about Everything: Data, Publications, and the Role of Repositories, explored perceptions, benefits, and challenges of research repositories—online archives maintained by a college or university, scholarly society, governmental agency, or other organization to allow access to full electronic versions of scholarly works, data, and other research output. In light of ballooning amounts of information in digital form as well as the upswing in publishing costs over the past decade, institutional repositories are taking center stage in discussions of new models for managing scholarly research output.
The APA conference, "Designing the Future: Innovations in Knowledge Dissemination for Psychological Science", was organized in collaboration with the APA Publications and Databases Office, and focused on opportunities for psychology in the context of today’s changing landscape of publication and scientific information-sharing.
Kennison joined Columbia University Libraries/Information Services to lead its new Center for Digital Research and Scholarship in September 2007. Previously, she was Director of Production at the Public Library of Science and Director of Content Services for Healthline Networks.
The Center for Digital Research and Scholarship (CDRS) partners with researchers and scholars to share new knowledge. Using innovative new media and digital technologies, CDRS empowers Columbia's research community with the online tools and services necessary to make the most of scholarly communication, collaboration, data-sharing, and preservation.
