Dr. Robert Barnett, research scholar at Columbia’s Weatherhead East Asian Institute, facilitated the Starr Library's acquisition of the archives of the Tibet Information Network (TIN) in England. For some fifteen years, TIN amassed invaluable and unique resources for the study of modern Tibet until the organization's closing in 2005. In December 2007, the Starr Library received the large majority of the TIN research archives, totaling some 285 cartons of material.
