Most reserves operations in the Columbia University Libraries will convert photocopied submissions for journal articles and book chapters to electronic format, if possible. Students may then access electronic reserves material by using the Course Reserves search on CLIO or from your CourseWorks page.
The libraries will scan photocopies of articles from journals and chapters from books if submitted by faculty for reserves. Under the fair use provisions of the Copyright Act, we will scan one article from an issue of a journal and small portions of a book. If you have questions, please contact the reserves unit that you will be using.
