Library Privileges for the Spouse or Domestic Partner of an Employee, or Student
A current employee or student of Columbia University may register his or her spouse or domestic partner for Library privileges. The spouse of a non-student Officer of the University is entitled to borrowing privileges in the Libraries. Spouses of non-Officer employees, or students are entitled to reading and stack privileges. The privilege is for all Columbia University libraries.
The Libraries will issue a photo identification card to the spouse/domestic partner. An additional processing fee will be charged for the card.
To register, the employee, or student and his or her spouse or domestic partner must come to the Library Information Office in Room 201 Butler Library. The employee, or student must present his or her currently valid Columbia University identification card and provide acceptable documentation of the marriage or domestic partnership. For the University definition, as well as required documentation, of domestic partnership, please consult with the Library Information Office staff.
Should the marriage or partnership be dissolved, please notify the Library Information Office. The Libraries will not accept another spouse or domestic partner registration from either person until six months after notification of the dissolution of the relationship.
