The library seeks to support the interdisciplinary curricular and research needs of faculty and students interested in all aspects of women’s studies. Faculty members teaching women’s studies include not only those affiliated with the Institute for Research on Women and Gender, but from a great many departments across campus.

The collection reflects the user communities' interests in American and British social history.

Overall, the Libraries’ existing collection, its current acquisitions commitment, based upon available resources, and its collecting goal for Women’s Studies are all at the research level.

1. Formats Collected: We collect monographs, periodicals, reference works, annuals, mono-series, and electronic tools extensively, demographic atlases, video, and news weeklies selectively, and dissertations are excluded.
2. Imprint Dates Collected: We collect 18^th through 20^th century materials extensively and earlier imprint materials selectively.
3. Chronological Focus: We collect materials related to all time periods.
4. Languages Collected: We collect English and Western European languages extensively and all other languages selectively.
5. Place of Publication: We collect materials published worldwide.
