Scanning services are available in many libraries, including Avery Library, the Digital Humanities Center and room 304 in Butler Library, the Digital Social Science Center in the Lehman Social Sciences Library, the Periodicals & Microforms Reading Room in Butler, and the Digital Science Center in the Science & Engineering Library. The scanners in 304 Butler are available for visitors to use.
Scanners are available in room 220B and on the 100-level of Avery Library.
Digital Humanities Center (DHC) Scanners
The Digital Humanities Center (DHC), located in 305 Butler Library, has optical scanning equipment for the creation of machine-readable text, machine-readable primary source texts, software programs for textual analysis and critical editing, database research tools in the humanities, and bibliographic database management programs.
The DHC staff can provide demonstrations, workshops, and classes for students and faculty, as well as individual consultations.
Periodicals & Microforms Reading Room
Scanning of Microfilm/Fiche. It is possible to scan portions of film or fiche and then download the images to a CD, DVD, or flash drive. This can be done in PMRR or Digital Humanities Center (DHC, 305 Butler). Patrons who wish to use the DHC machine will be allowed to check out microfilm or microfiche in exchange for a photo ID.
Digital Social Science Center (DSSC) Scanners
The Digital Social Science Center (DSSC) offers a wealth of computing and technology software equipment. Scanners are available in several parts of the DSSC, which is located in 300 International Affairs Building (IAB).
- 4 flat-bed scanners for 8.5" x 11" material [at DSSC workstations]
- 1 flat-bed scanners for 8.5" x 11" material [at the CUIT consultant's table]
- 1automatic document feeder/flatbed scanner for up to 12" x 18" material [in IAB 215]
- 1 large-format sheet-fed scanner [in IAB 215]

Digital Science Center (DSC) Scanners
The Digital Science Center has 8 Fujitsu fi-6230 Scanners. The Fujitsu fi-6230 scanners feature fast, 40ppm/80ipm scanning in monochrome and grayscale, 300 dpi color scanning at 30ppm/60ipm, duplex scanning, advanced paper handling for feeding reliability, and a 50-page automatic document feeder with hard embossed card scanning.
