A Guerilla Website Testing Tool: Getting to Know Silverback
Digital Repository Manager, Center for Digital Research and Scholarship, Columbia University Libraries
Steve Krug, usability guru and author of Rocket Surgery Made Easy, argues that every Web site should be user-tested once a month, but how can we do testing on such a tight timetable? That's where Silverback comes in: this lightweight screen- and video-capture tool makes it easy to go out to where your users are and quickly get results.
Rob Hilliker will give a brief introduction to usability testing in general, including the whys and the wherefores, but especially the hows--talking about his experience using Silverback to test the new Academic Commons site, and then giving a live demonstration of Silverback in action.
