For help with reserves, holds, recalls, fines, library hours, book locations, searching for known items, or searching for missing items, please contact Access Services Supervisor, Ken Harlin; Evening/Weekend Supervisor Rongxiang Zhang; or Circulation Assistants Rich Jandovitz and Ryan King.


For help with researching a topic, interlibrary loan, electronic resources, bibliographic instruction, orientation for specific resources, suggestions for purchase, or book donations, contact the collections/reference staff in your area of interest.

Catalogue Matters

To follow-up on errors found in Columbia University's Library Catalog, CLIO, contact us, and one of our catalogers will correct the record.

Access to the Collections

For access to Special and Rare Book Collections if you are not a Columbia ID holder, contact the Library Information Office.


To locate current magazines and newspapers, visit the C.V. Starr East Asian periodicals section on the main level of the East Asian Library.  For assistance locating periodicals, ask at the service desk.

Tours, Bequests, and Gifts

To arrange a tour for visiting scholars and delegations, to discuss bequests and gifts to the library, or for any questions regarding library policies, contact Library Director Jim Cheng.

Using Materials Not Yet Cataloged

To request rush cataloging or on-site use of materials not yet fully cataloged for Chinese, Japanese, Korean, or Tibetan materials, contact the collections/reference librarian in your area of interest. For western-language material use the Requests feature in the CLIO record.
