4 Weeks to go to July 7th

NEW YORK, June 11, 2003 New CLIO interface:

This summer, the Libraries will launch a new version of CLIO, our online catalog and the management system that supports circulation, reserves, acquisitions, and cataloging. CLIO is used by all Morningside libraries (except Law and Teachers College) and also includes the collections of the Health Sciences and Barnard libraries. The new CLIO is scheduled to "go live" following the July 4 weekend.

This is a glimpse of what the opening screen will look like in the new CLIO. Notice that there are tabs for three search options, Basic (the screen displayed below), Guided Keyword, and Course Reserves. Within each of these search options, you will be able to select a variety of methods for finding what you need. For example, in the Basic Search option, you can search by journal title, or by subject heading, or by keyword. Notice too that you may choose a "Quick Limit" to restrict your search to say Video Recordings or perhaps to all Electronic Resources.

You'll see too that there are a number of powerful features that are only "a click away" as you scan the buttons display across the top of the new CLIO screen. My CLIO will allow you to set preferences for searching and displaying results; Bookbag enables you to save search results for downloading or printing; Recalls/Holds lets you place "real time" requests for materials you see displayed in CLIO; My Library Account takes you to information on what materials you have checked out or what fees may be listed on your record.

In addition to using these new "patron empowerment features," you will quickly be able to access the Libraries' Borrow Direct service or use LibraryWeb or contact a reference librarian through the Ask Us links listed near the top right of the screen. We hope that new CLIO will be easy to use and more functional in serving your library needs.

Watch for weekly notices on the Libraries' progress towards implementing this new system in LibraryWeb NEWS as we continue our "CLIO countdown" to keep you informed over the next 2 months.
