Teaching with Special Collections

Teaching with Special Collections and Archives

The Libraries’ main special and distinctive collections comprise the Rare Books & Manuscripts Library, the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library, the C.V. Starr East Asian Library, and the Burke Library at Theological Seminary. In addition to serving as important repositories of invaluable archival collections, these libraries also support the teaching and learning activities of the campus community, as well as work with teachers and students from a broad range of schools and programs from across New York City. Curators at each of these units are eager to engage with instructors and students to plan course assignments and lessons, develop learning outcomes, help students critically to engage with the material and cultural history of its collections, and contextualize that content for a diverse audience in inclusive and equitable settings.

To partner with us, please contact staff at one of our four distinctive collections or fill out our instruction-request form.
