Access Privileges

Who Can Access Columbia University Libraries

Most library locations are currently open for study and access to stacks for faculty students, and staff. Hours can be found here. Retirees may access Butler Library, and the Rare Book & Manuscript Library is accepting limited appointments for external visiting researchers. All other special collections visits continue to be available for research by appointment only.

Beginning Monday, December 6, visitors will be permitted to enter Butler Library. Visitors must reserve a verification appointment in advance and must check in for each visit at the Library Information Office in Butler Library during business hours with proof of vaccination, ID, and symptom attestation. Hours can be found here. Our Visitors page will be updated with more details and verification appointment registration link closer to December 6. Please continue to check back for details.
