Description
If brick-and-mortar libraries were measured only by the size of their collections they would resemble warehouses. Instead, they are constructed as meeting places where patrons, scholars and students find and share knowledge. We need adopt the same perspective as we design and construct digital information spaces. Their ability to facilitate information sharing needs to be as important as their capabilities for information access. This talk will examine these issues in the context of recent work on the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) and other research projects at Cornell Information Science.
