Call for Presentations

The theme for this year's symposium, “Doing More with Less” will focus on the challenges libraries face during these uncertain economics times. Presentations can focus on the main theme of doing more with less space, time, staffing, and funds; looking at it from another perspective the prevalence of technology can help us do more with less. Alternative topics within the umbrella theme will be considered.

All proposals should explore both the challenges and possible resolutions and can be based on either actual experience or hypothetical proposition.

Abstracts should focus clearly on the theme of the symposium, and should convey in 250-500 words the scope, conclusions, and relevance of the presentation.

Submissions will be accepted until January 25, 2010 [deadline has been extended!] and should be submitted by e-mail to refsymposium@libraries.cul.columbia.edu. Please include your complete contact information with your submission.

Responses from the committee will be sent by January 29, 2010.

The length of the presentations should be approximately 20 minutes with an additional ten minutes for questions; audio and visual technology needs will be accommodated.

The final presentations will be due on March 10, 2010 and represent a commitment on the part of the submitter to present at Columbia University on March 12, 2010. Please send questions to the planning committee at refsymposium@libraries.cul.columbia.edu.
