The Center for Human Rights Documentation & Research is hosting an exhibit of a Srebrenica Memorial Quilt during the month of October 2011.  The quilt, handcrafted by Bosnian women, memorializes and commemorates victims of the 1995 massacre in Srebrenica.  The quilt project was organized by Bosnian Family (BOSFAM), a Bosnian, non-governmental organization founded during the war in 1994.

The Srebrenica Memorial Quilt is made of individual panels, each of which commemorates a victim of the the massacre. A small panel (40x40 cm) is woven for one missing person.  Each panel contains a unique design and the name of the individual. The panels are then woven together, creating a large carpet.

A section of this quilt, Memorial Quilt #10, is on display in the entrance to the Lehman Social Sciences Library through October 31st, 2011.  View images of the other quilts and learn more about the project and history of BOSFAM.
