USING AVERY LIBRARY
Avery Access: Avery is open to current Columbia University students, faculty, and staff, and alumni and retirees of the university with valid CUID. For more information, including how to obtain an alumni or retiree ID, please visit the Columbia University Libraries Visitors Page. All others interested in visiting Avery Library and its collections should email avery@library.columbia.edu.
Using the Collections: Avery Library’s stacks and spaces are open to eligible Columbia affiliates. Patrons may browse the stacks and use items from the research collections in the library. Additionally, the Avery-LC collection is largely circulating and items may be checked out of the library. No food is allowed in Avery Library; drinks are allowed in spill-proof containers.
Special Collections: Avery Classics, Art Properties, & Drawings & Archives are open by appointment only. Please contact the relevant department with your research questions or to make an appointment.
Research & Teaching Support: Avery staff are available to assist faculty with teaching online and to support students with research projects and assignments. Here’s what you need to know.
