Second Lieutenant Russell Lloyd Equi, H&S Company, 3rd AMTRAC, BN, 1st Marine Division, United States Marine Corps (Reserve) 1803 Assault Amphibious Vehicle Officer, died January 26, 1963 as the result of an explosive device at Quang Ngai, South Vietnam. His body was recovered. He was commanding amphibious operations in the Mekong Delta.
