Korean War
In June 1950, President Harry S. Truman ordered American ground forces into Korea. Some Columbia students volunteered for service in the conflict; others were called up in the draft. At least fifteen Columbians are known to have perished in the conflict in Korea.
Midshipmen in the Naval Reserve Officers' Training Corps program pass in review just south of College Walk.
