Scan & Deliver Terms of Service
The purpose of this service is to provide electronically delivered scans of small portions of Columbia's general collections for private study, research, teaching or scholarship. Any other use may require the permission of the copyright owner.

Terms of Service
In order for a request to be completed by library staff it must conform to the following terms:
- Limitations on scanning service are related to the capacity of available staff resources
- Please limit requests to a small portion of the work: a) sometimes a small portion may constitute a chapter or article and b) Tables of Contents, endnotes and related supplementary content will routinely be included
- Requests encompassing entire works will be cancelled, regardless of length or publication date
- Staff reserve the right to process one request per person per day, depending on staffing and overall request volume
- Limitations (such as page limits) may be in effect during high-volume periods
- Citations must be for items available in the general print collections
- Some collections are ineligible for scanning such as Reserves (more information about Course Reserves Policies), microforms and special collections including: Avery Classics, Avery Drawings & Archives, Rare Books and Manuscripts Library, University Archives and Oral History
- Requests for unavailable, ineligible, missing, fragile or tightly bound items may be forwarded to Interlibrary Loan (ILL) on your behalf
- If requests are otherwise not in the spirit of Terms of Service, staff will contact you by email to resolve
