First Lieutenant Francis Nathan Bangs Jr., U.S. Army, twenty-two years old, died of wounds suffered in Belgium, December 18, 1944. He was with a tank destroyer unit of the 3rd Armored Division. He was posthumously awarded a Purple Heart.

You were my grandfather's cousin, and we all would love to have known you personally. Your legacy will always be remembered in our family, and I am ensuring that all of our family learns about your side of our family, and your valiant military service for our great country.
