Lieutenant James Parsons Gifford, Company D, 503rd Parachute Infantry, U.S. Army, died of spinal meningitis in the Philippines on July 25, 1945. He was awarded the Silver Star for personal gallantry in action at Corregidor on February 23, 1945.
