Our Mission
The Humanities and History Division at Butler Library is comprised of librarians with subject expertise who support the research and teaching mission of Columbia University by
- providing instruction in research methods and resources, as well as in software applications
- building the strong research collections housed in Butler Library and offsite storages
- working as liaisons with faculty to strengthen and refine our resources and to meet the needs of our users
- providing reference assistance to students, faculty, staff and visiting readers across diverse media
