Our Mission

The Humanities and History Division at Butler Library is comprised of librarians with subject expertise who support the research and teaching mission of Columbia University by

  • providing instruction in research methods and resources, as well as in software applications
  • building the strong research collections housed in Butler Library and offsite storages
  • working as liaisons with faculty to strengthen and refine our resources and to meet the needs of our users
  • providing reference assistance to students, faculty, staff and visiting readers across diverse media

We look forward to working with you.
