Flying Cadet Wayles Baker Bradley Jr., U.S. Army, died in an airplane accident at Ellington Field, Houston,Texas, February 4, 1918. He died when the plane he was flying dropped 30 feet causing him to be severely burned by the flaming oil that was released. Ellington Field had opened in late 1917, and served as an advanced training base throughout World War I.
