Henry Warren Brown

Captain Henry Warren Brown, 326th Infantry, 82nd Division, U.S. Army, who was related to President Woodrow Wilson, was found dead in Chesapeake Bay, near Norfolk, Virginia, in May 1919. He had been missing since February 19, 1919. While training to be an architect at Columbia, he gave up his studies to train and then go to the front. He was seriously gassed and shell-shocked following the fall campaigns of 1918 in France, and he was hospitalized. He then returned to the front but, it was reported, "was never himself again." He returned to the United States shortly after the signing of the Armistice in a state of depression.
