Raymond Boyd Jauss

First Lieutenant Raymond Boyd Jauss, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division, U.S. Army, was killed on July 15, 1918. He was awarded the Croix de Guerre and the Distinguished Service Cross. His citation read, "for extraordinary heroism in action near Crezancy, France, July 15, 1918. After all means of liaison had failed, Lieutenant Jauss carried important messages to his observation posts. He was killed by shell fire while visiting one of his observation stations near Crezancy. General Orders No. 32, W.D., 1919."
