Ensign Newton Henry Mason, D.D.S., U.S. Naval Air Corps, was declared missing in action at the Battle of the Coral Sea. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross "for extraordinary achievement in aerial combat as pilot of a fighter plane." He was honored in a memorial service by the School of Dental and Oral Surgery.
